Northamptonshire Police is running a county-wide firearms amnesty until 5 October, accepting unwanted guns and related items without prosecution. The five-week programme launched on 26 August as part of efforts to keep firearms from falling into the wrong hands.
What items can be surrendered?
Police will collect a range of items, including:
- Illegally held firearms
- Ammunition
- Imitations
- Airguns
- Antique weapons
- Tasers
- Stun guns
- CS gas
How can you surrender a firearm?
The amnesty offers anonymity and immunity from prosecution at the point of surrender. Anyone wanting to surrender items or report illegal firearms should call 101 to make arrangements with the police.
