The Spot from Konus is a terrific bargain and exactly what is needed for fast, portable, high magnification at close to mid ranges.
What’s in the Box and What is it Best For?
The Konus Spot 20-60×60 arrives with its own ground-level tripod that’s perfect for placing alongside a prone shooter for target work and is especially useful when zeroing digital sights that don’t give the target clarity you get from a regular optical riflescope. A light Cordura case is supplied alongside instructions and a cleaning cloth.
What are the Key Design and Ergonomic Features?
In use, the 45-degree angled eyepiece on the body has a soft rubber lens cap and collar, locking easily into your eye socket. There is a tactile, serrated rubber grip to control magnification, and the whole scope body is similarly rubber-armoured in green. One thing I really like is that the focusing dial is positioned very close to the central mounting position, so that when it is physically adjusted, it transfers minimal movement into the scope at the critical moment. Up front, there is a folding lens cap and the lens shade extends 22mm for a little more protection from unwanted incoming light without adding unnecessary bulk.
What is the Optical Performance Like?
This isn’t a scope for spotting minuscule bullet splash at 1,000m, but it still offers good viewing capability at a very modest price. A lot has been packed into this scope to deliver a clear image at 20x, although you should expect some loss of brightness as you approach 60x.
