Four shotguns were stolen when a cabinet was taken from a property on Paddock Close, Epworth, North Lincolnshire, in the early hours of 10 February.
Humberside Police said three men are believed to have travelled to the property in a blue Mercedes. Officers are conducting house-to-house enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage. A silver Land Rover was also seen in the area at the time.
The stolen firearms are a Kofs 20 bore (serial number 2103513), an Escort 12 bore (203044), a Browning 12 bore (38479NT) and a Laurona 12 bore (247001).
The National Gamekeepers’ Organisation, which circulated the details on social media, said there was no indication the theft was anything other than opportunistic but urged members to review their security arrangements. Registered firearms dealers and shooting grounds were advised to remain vigilant for anyone attempting to sell or transfer the guns, and to check certificates thoroughly.
Detective Sergeant Anthony Stead said the incident would “understandably cause concern” for people living nearby. “Local officers will be in the area over the coming days to offer reassurance and answer any questions,” he said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Humberside Police on 101.
